1846 - George Westinghouse born in Central Bridge, New York
1865 - Westinghouse patents the rotary steam engine
1881 - Westinghouse perfects life-saving railroad block signal

1886 - 1895

1886 - First commercial AC power generating station lights up Great Barrington, Massachusetts
